In an attempt to quit smoking, an anxious young woman (Ellie Valleau, "Karlaboy") turns to hypno-therapy. While under hypnosis, it becomes apparent that she suffers from multiple personality disor-der. Her doctor (James Lawrence, "Ed Wood") begins to manipulate her into committing acts of violence, all the while her innocent alternate personality begins a new relationship with a police homicide detective (Brian Lally, "L.A. Confidential," "As I Lay Dying"). The film also stars James Black ("Ozone," "Out of Sight"), Annette Murphy ("Chuck and Buck," "Eddie Presley"), Michael Todd ("Robot Ninja"), and Chuck Williams ("Bubba-Ho-Tep," "Pirates of the Caribbean").
Ross Snyder of Saturn's Core called "Smoke and Mirrors" a "De Palma-esque thriller." Though well reviewed, the market for such a micro-budget film was nearly non-existant in 1995, and it was barely released (under the title "Scot-Free"). Now for its 30th anniversary, it has been lovingly remastered from the original elements along with a newly created 5. 1 surround sound mix. This is NOT a director's cut, but frame for frame the exact film from 1995. Enjoy!
Also available bundled with the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on CD featuring never-before-released music composed & performed by Steve Creason plus the original song "Smoke" written & performed by major label artist Dan Bern!
