This type of eating place has been a roadside icon since the 1940's and still survives today, serving hamburgers and ice cream in places where the fast food franchises have not yet taken over. Kit depicts a typical drive in that began as small walk-up ice cream stand, had a dining area built on and evolved into a full menu fast food walk-up and dine-in restaurant typical of many that operated all over the U.S.A.
